Having Fun at the Healthy Family Expo! | Vancouver & Chilliwack Event Photographer

Wow... you can tell it's a busy month when I haven't had time to blog for a while... oops! I guess I had better get sharing some of my travels pronto then...

Well, yes, it has been a busy month, and one of the highlights was when I was asked to shoot the Healthy Family Expo, at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Being a family-oriented "gig", it meant that my hubby and girls could actually tag along for once. The girls LOVED it! There were so many fantastic activities to do, as well as some delicious sampling, and great entertainment from the likes of Bobs and Lolo, it made the long day fly by. (AND, I should mention that Bobs & Lola are, by far, the nicest entertainers I have ever met... and that includes all the folks I met during my years of working in UK Radio!)

Here is just a tiny taster of the day...

Oh yes... and the prize for the best photobomb of the day, had to go to the fella from the Naked Coconuts booth...

A Bright-Eyed Little Lady | Mission and Abbotsford Newborn Baby Photographer

I love it when a Milestones Memories Club family visits the studio for their 2nd session... because it means we finally get to meet the special little person behind the bump. This little lady was no different, and once again my cuteness prediction was spot on - she is gorgeous!

She came to visit me at just 7 days old but was already so alert and eager to take everything in! She probably would have been perfectly happy to stay awake for her whole session, but after a good feed and some patient cuddling, using my special-ninja soothing skills, she drifted off into that nice deep sleep, and stayed there for the rest of the session. She was such a delight to photograph - here are a few of my favourite shots...

Just a Little Peanut... | Chilliwack Newborn Baby Photographer

This tiny little fella came to visit me last week... and broke the record for the smallest non-multiple newborn to visit the studio, having surprised Mom & Dad with a very early arrival!

When photographing newborns, we like them to go into a really deep "milk coma", so that we can position/wrap/unwrap them while they stay asleep (awake, fresh newborns are not so flattering to photograph, as they have little or no control over their limbs, facial muscles and eyes... creating some crazy looks!). This little peanut was not so keen to go into that deep sleep, but he did behave very well anyway, staying mostly asleep and calming quickly after each move... so he was also done with his session in record time!

Welcome to the world little man... it was a pleasure to meet you...

Meeting Another Gorgeous Little 1-Year-Old | Chilliwack Baby Photographer

This little lady came to visit me on her first birthday... and not only was she adorable but she also has a great little personality - I LOVED meeting her.

Photographing 1 year old portraits is SO different to shooting the newborn & 6 month baby milestones... mostly because your reaction times have to be like lightning! These kids are now well and truly on the move and not afraid to go in whatever direction their new skills will take them, as fast as their limbs will take them! I have to give major kudos to the awesome parents who do such a great job putting these monkeys back in position every 10 seconds!!

Hitting the big 1! | Chilliwack Baby Portrait Photographer

I can't believe this little guy is 1 already... it only seems like 5 minutes that his Mom came in for her Maternity shots, very quickly followed by his Newborn photos... where is time going??!! (Makes me feel so old! LOL!)

Well, he was a little superstar, as always, and worked his model good looks like a pro.  We did have to pause halfway through, though, for some Momma-cuddle time. To be honest, that just gave me some different cute natural moments that I love - capturing that bound between Momma and son really tugs at the heart strings !

Happy First Birthday, little man!
